Since inception, aim of WBMSRU is to improve the service and working conditions of all Sales Promotion Employees working in the state of West Bengal. It is the objective of WBMSRU to achieve Legal, Bargaining and Trade Union rights for all SPEs through struggle and agitation in tune with its all India federation i.e. FMRAI. WBMSRU is thriving for emancipation of conceptual trade union movement of its members through regular meetings, seminars, conventions etc. The union is deeply associated with various programs called by different democratic platforms. WBMSRU is also regularly conducting and participating in different people awareness movement including protest against price rise of essential commodities, capitalists aggression , wide spread liberalization for MNCs in Indian market, sickening of public sector units.

WBMSRU exerted whistleblower role in medicine related movement for people’s welfare which has been acknowledged by cross section of society. WBMSRU demands reduction of medicine prices, wide spread availability of life savings drugs, people oriented drug policy, easy access of medicine and healthcare to the marginalized section, more number of medicines are to be brought under price control (DPCO), revival of drug manufacturing public sector units, stringent action against the companies who are involved in black marketing of medicines though unethical trade practices and marketing. The union also demands capital punishment for those involved in spreading of spurious drugs.
